World AIDS Day Resources and Actions

AIDS RibbonThis World AIDS Day, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria is excited to support our members in communicating their role in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We are also offering ideas on events and activities to engage your workforce.

We are offering several opportunities for action this World AIDS Day:

CEO non-discrimination pledge

Nearly 100 Coalition member CEOs have signed a public pledge not to discriminate on the basis of HIV status. We cannot defeat HIV/AIDS without ending discrimination. Showing your company’s commitment and leadership will save lives with no further financial investment. Signing the pledge will send a powerful signal to your current and prospective employees. It will also inspire companies around the world to follow the leadership of GBC member companies to strike a blow against AIDS by ending stigma.

To learn more about how your CEO can join the pledge, contact Shuma Panse: spanse@gbcimpact.org

Customizable content for your employee communications

The following content is being created by the GBC Member Communications Assistance team. It is available as a customizable HTML newsletter or as pre-packaged content for your own communications. You may choose some or all of these articles.

  1. Get involved: This item is an opportunity for you to share ways your employees can get involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
  2. Testing 411: Your membership in the Coalition helped create an Emmy-nominated public service announcement (PSA) starring NBA stars and actors Queen Latifah and Jamie Foxx. Your employees can learn about this important effort and also view the PSA.
  3. Ring in World AIDS Day: Give your employees the chance to download the ‘Condom Condom’ ring tone sensation, created by Coalition member BBC World Service Trust to promote HIV/AIDS prevention.
  4. Video interviews with your executives: For members who won or were commended at this year’s GBC Awards for Business Excellence, the Coalition can provide video clips of interviews with your executives.
  5. A pledge your employees can sign: Through the World AIDS Campaign, your employees can learn what they can do to fight AIDS and they can also join people worldwide to signal their collective commitment through the World AIDS Campaign pledge.

Technical requirements:

If you choose the HTML newsletter option, you will need minor technical assistance inside your organization in order to add your customized content. The newsletter will also be designed with places to drop in your logo.

To take advantage of this customizable content, contact your GBC Relationship Manager or send us an e-mail:  resources@gbcimpact.org
