GBC Video Transcript:

Collaborative Approach Deepens Business Impact

GBC channels companies' efforts and delivers technical expertise to ensure initiatives are best in class

Clyde Tuggle, President, Russia, Ukraine & Belarus Business Unit, The Coca-Cola Company: It is essential for us to find the right partners who bring the right skill sets, resources, capability, experiences that can help us be successful in communities. Now the great thing about the Global Business Coalition, and here in Russia and Ukraine the TPAA, Trans-Atlantic Partners Against AIDS, is that we sought out with these organizations the kind of leadership and direction and advice and counsel as we developed our own program.

Arnold Selokane, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility, PepsiCo/Simba, South Africa: GBC is there to make sure that these companies share these best practices. And there is a great need for an organization like GBC because without it we would still be working in isolation, we'll still be working in those silos where we don't talk to each other, share best practices that are going to be to the best of all of us.

Peter Robertson, Vice Chairman, Chevron Corporation: We have resources, we want those resources applied somewhere where they really make a difference, we're not experts in disease and so when we, when a company, or organization rather, like GBC, can help us take our resources and apply them somewhere where we know they will really make a difference, that's exactly the kind of organization that we want to be related to.

Jack Watters, Vice President, External Medical Affairs, Pfizer: There is no doubt that people want to work for companies that are doing the right thing, that have a conscience, that are engaged socially. Corporate social responsibility just means giving back to the communities that have made you successful as a business. And that is something that is incumbent upon us all. And I think that the people who are not engaged and the companies that are not members ultimately are going to be the losers in this.

Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, GBC President and CEO: The only way to stop this disease is prevention, that's the only way. And that's where companies can really make a difference. You have access, you who represent great companies have the ability to encourage testing and counseling to your workers much more effectively than governments. Companies that have tried this like Anglo American Mining Company have had a tremendous opportunity to do something here.
