On October 21-25, 2007, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) will conduct its Annual Member Trip & Site Visits. This year’s trip provides a unique opportunity to witness Russia’s exploding HIV/AIDS and TB epidemics and to learn about cutting-edge programming implemented as a response. The trip is organized in the framework of the first-ever Leaders Forum on Public-Private Partnerships in Russia, India and China “Healthy Nations - Healthy Economies”.
The trip participants will have an opportunity to visit two infectious disease hospitals, including a clinic for HIV-positive children, and an outreach program; participate in interactive simulation workshops facilitated by Booz & Company; and network with Russian policymakers and business leaders, among other experts, at a series of high-level meetings. Participants will attend a joint reception with the U.S.-Russia Business Council (USRBC). The trip will culminate in the Leaders Forum on Public-Private Partnerships on October 25, which will bring together business leaders and senior government officials from Russia, China and India.
The 2007 Annual Member Trip is a rare opportunity to experience two of the world’s most fascinating cities – St. Petersburg and Moscow – while benefiting from a comprehensive discussion with Russian and international policy and business leaders, NGO experts and public health specialists.
Expected outcomes:
The trip aims to strengthen private sector engagement in the fight against HIV/AIDS and TB in Russia; to identify the important policy hurdles that must be overcome to efficiently address HIV/AIDS and TB; and, to reinforce cross-sector and international collaboration.
